Chosen Materials
The quality of a product starts at the fundamental materials. Our materials are chosen for quality. Material sourced from local Vancouver island salvagers and local suppliers, Adrift has ethical responsibility with you.
The Finishes

Beeswax
ZERO VOCs. A natural, earthy finish that brings out the true character of wood. Derived from the hive, it sinks into the grain, leaving a soft, warm glow and smooth, satin touch. With no harsh chemicals, it lets wood breathe, age gracefully, and stay protected. Simple, renewable, rooted in nature.

Olive
Olive oil is a clean, natural way to care for wood. It soaks into the grain and enhances the color bringing forward a gentle glow. With zero VOCs and no synthetic additives. Easy to apply and reapply, olive oil keeps wood nourished and breathing. Offering a finish that feels as wholesome and grounded as the olive tree itself.

Home Recipe
A secret recipe of all natural oils and wax. The oils penetrate the grain enhancing the natural caricature of the wood and the wax creates a natural soft breathable barrier to protect the wood from moisture and wear. No VOCs, no synthetic additives, all natural, only the best.
The Woods
Locally Salvaged Woods
Using Local salvagers is a choice Adrift Wood Co has made that connects the craftspeople to the forests and in turn connects it all back to you.
Salvaged wood is collected by permitted professionals. Salvaged wood refers to timber that has been reclaimed past cut blocks, fallen trees or required tree removal. Rather than being freshly harvested from forests, this process gives the wood a second life, reducing waste and avoiding the need for new logging.

Garry Oak - hardwood
By choosing salvaged Garry oak, we support the conservation of the island’s precious ecosystems and reduce waste by giving this remarkable wood a second life. This practice is a thoughtful and responsible choice that aligns with our values.

Cedar - softwood
Cedar is a symbol of the Vancouver island coastal forests. By using salvaged lumber, we get to work with this beautiful wood ethically and responsibly. A timeless grounded symbol of the island.

Fir - softwood
Salvaged fir offers exceptional strength and beauty, making it a perfect choice for a wide range of projects, from construction to fine woodworking. By choosing locally salvaged fir, we ensure that the island's valuable natural resources are used responsibly.
Local Supplier Woods
Adrift chooses to support our local wood suppliers. Working with local suppliers helps the local economy. We maintain good working relationships to help promote each other and keep the process close to home.
The woods we source from our suppliers are primarily Canadian. We do order hardwoods that Canada just can’t grow.
